A spam filter is a software application that’s installed on an email server and monitors all inbound email messages in order to obstruct any undesired ones from reaching a given mailbox. Several instances of such email messages would be: offers for pills or cash, false bank notifications or email attachments that contain malware sent with the idea to damage your computer. Spam filters normally check the content of an email message and if they detect specific keywords or other dubious content, they either erase the email or deliver it to the Junk/Spam folder instead of the Inbox folder. Some hosting companies mix their own spam filters with up-to-the-minute databases from spam-monitoring organizations, so as to guarantee higher levels of safety for their customers. Such databases include patterns, email server IPs and other information about spam email messages recently reported by these organizations.
Spam Filters in Hosting
If you get a hosting plan from our company and if you take advantage of our email services, you will be able to enable spam filtering for any of the email accounts that you create from the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel. With only several mouse clicks, you can choose between 5 different levels of protection. In case you start getting spam, you can start with the lowest one and then slowly increase the level till you stop getting spam. We use one of the very best and most famous email filters available called SpamAssassin. It checks the header field and the body of each message that you get and determines a spam score, based on which it either deletes a specific email or permits it to reach your inbox. Hepsia will also permit you to configure custom filters and either get rid of unwanted messages or send them to a 3rd-party address like spam@domain.com where you can view them again afterwards.
Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Hosting
In case you use one of our Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages, you will not have to worry about spam emails stuffing your mailboxes all the time, as you can take advantage of the popular SpamAssassin spam filter that we provide with each account. Our in-house developed Hepsia Control Panel will allow you to enable the filter for any email account with several clicks of the mouse and you can pick one of the five levels of safety – from very low to very high. The level can be changed at any time if, for instance, legitimate emails get filtered, or if junk messages go through and appear in your inbox. To take no chances, you can choose all filtered emails to be delivered to a special mailbox such as spam@your-domain.com and not to be erased. In this way, you can examine them every now and then to make certain that you haven’t missed out on an authentic email message.
